Robotic Baling/Palletless Baling System

Impact’s innovative palletless baling system has proved to be a huge success with can makers around the world due to the reduction in handling and cost of transportation.

One of the key elements of the latest palletising cell allows finished bale stacks to be transported away from the plant without using wooden pallets. A carefully considered bale stacking pattern was determined through vigorous trials and tests to provide a robust, stable bale stack that includes voids to allow a standard fork truck to lift and transport the finished stack from the cell and into a road vehicle. The pattern also ensures a maximum vehicle payload in terms of weight achieved.

Our innovative engineering, logistics and transport efficiency, contribute greatly towards minimising the carbon footprint of the can manufacturing process.

Internal Bake Ovens (IBO) Conveyor Fume Extraction

The strong fumes generated by the cans as they travel between the lacquer sprayers and the Internal Bake Ovens (IBO) create an uncomfortable working environment.  By installing an enclosure around the conveyor and connecting it to an extraction system, the fumes are contained and exhausted safely to the atmosphere.

Can Decorator Mist and Fume Extraction

The can decorating process produces solvent vapours, fumes and airborne particulates which can make the environment a hazardous and uncomfortable place to work. Impact Air Systems have developed a range of extraction systems and filtration equipment tailored specifically for:

• Base Coaters
• Decorators
• Overvarnishing Units

These incorporate custom designed stainless steel capture hoods, pre-separators, two stage filters and high efficiency invertor controlled extract fans linked to pressure monitoring devices to ensure optimum extraction rates are maintained for the life of the filter medium.

Lacquer Sprayer Dust Extraction

Impact offer a highly efficient and fully certified spray powder and conveyor fume extraction system to eliminate unwanted odours and dangerous explosive overspray from the lacquer that is applied to the internal surface of the beverage can. Over spray from the lacquer spray application is efficiently extracted along with the solvent fumes emitted from the transportation conveyor to the Internal Bake Ovens (IBO).

Explosion rated ductwork conveys the spray dust and fumes to a fully automatic reverse jet filter assembly. This (ATEX compliant) filter unit provides primary recovery of the dust and includes vertical discharge explosion relief panels and discharge chute allowing filtration to be located in close proximity to the spray process.

A second stage filter followed by a third stage absolute filter ensures a cleaning efficiency of above 99.9% is achieved. The conveying air stream is provided by a high efficiency centrifugal fan equipped with spark minimizing features which is installed on the clean side of the filtration system.

Body Maker Oil Mist Extraction

The Impact oil mist extraction solution offers a cost effective and reliable method of removing unwanted oil mist vapour from processes such as body making presses within the beverage can production industry or frying within the food industries.

Incorporating a central ductwork system, the system collects and conveys the oil mist vapour away from individual or multiple production processes for recovery providing a cleaner and healthier working environment.

Specialist collection hoods and a fully welded ductwork system ensures a leak free operation and a three stage filtration process efficiently collects and separates the oil mist from the conveying air stream, allowing the oil to be recovered and reused or recycled.

High efficiency variable speed fans provide the air stream and extremely high air quality emissions can be achieved using second stage HEPA or carbon filtration.

Process Exhaust Stacks

Hot gases, solvent vapour or fumes created by the production processes need to be discharged outside the building to atmosphere to ensure the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment. Impact Air Systems supply and install a range of exhaust solutions designed to suit individual requirements.

Factory Ventilation & Cooling

Extracting high volumes of process air from buildings results in the ingress of makeup air through doorways, windows etc.

This uncontrolled form of ventilation can lead to quality, environmental and housekeeping issues. Impact Air Systems provide energy efficient ventilation systems incorporating, if necessary, the latest adiabatic cooling technology tailored to suit individual factory requirements. Conditioned make up air is introduced at low level through external air input unit.

Using the principle that warm air rises, roof mounted filter plenum units enable the hot air within the factory to be exhausted to atmosphere. An intelligent control system constantly monitors the conditions in the factory and ensures that the correct volume, temperature and humidity of air is being supplied.
