Technical Sales Support Engineer

About Impact

Impact Air Systems are a dynamic, forward thinking company who have enjoyed fantastic growth in recent years and the enquiries keep coming!  We provide niche solutions in recycling across the world, which means that our Technical Sales Managers are very busy!

We could be even bigger and more successful, but we need an extra layer of support to do this.  We have deemed this role as critical for further growth.

The role

We are looking for a sharp, ambitious and enthusiastic Technical Sales Support Engineer (or two) to provide daily support for the existing team of regional Technical Sales Managers.

Our sales team are technical, this isn’t tele sales, it’s problem solving, it’s engineering solutions. We need someone who is interested in engineering and applying the principles of air system design (mass flow and pressure loss calculations) in a whole range of environments from extremely clean commercial printing sites to very dirty household and industrial recycling plants.

You would be helping us to help our customers recycle more and landfill less and provide a return on their investment.

With a bit of training and support from the Technical Sales Managers, you will quickly become very hands-on. You will visit customers, listen and learn, together you will then design the solution, carry out technical calculations, select equipment, prepare prices and pull together a detailed written technical proposal.

Once you’ve sent the proposal to the customer you will then be hungry to win the contract so you will work alongside the Technical Sales Manager until it’s in the bag!

In time, you will need less support and you will be able to pull together the proposals, etc. by yourself, leaving the Technical Sales Manager to develop more enquiries.

We have a fantastic Marketing Manager but she also needs input from the technical sales team so you will provide support with general sales and marketing campaigns, tradeshows, preparing case studies, editorials, datasheets and product literature.

Ultimately, you will want to be a Technical Sales Manager yourself and that’s your career progression and if you have all the right attributes, we will support you all the way.

Based in Leicester

This role would be split between our head office in Leicester and our regional Technical Sales Managers who need support locally.  Therefore, it is imperative that you can drive and have a full driving licence.  We can also work pretty much anywhere in the world and it may be necessary to travel overseas for a few days at a time, sometimes at short notice.

It is important that you understand the whole business, great systems require hard work from smart people across different departments.  Our solutions are delivered by a team and you need to understand how we all fit together.

You will not see this as ‘just a job’, you will see it as a challenge with excellent career prospects where every day is different, and you know your hard work will be recognised and rewarded.

We are a friendly, modern family business who look after and value all our staff.  We invest in your development with training and reviews and we have fun too.  We work hard to make Impact a nice place to work, aside from all the normal work stuff we have dress down days and pizza lunches, we buy cakes for birthdays, we finish a bit early on a Friday and we have lots of chip cobs!

Qualifications

You will have, as a minimum, a HNC in a mechanical engineering discipline. We will consider an ONC qualification, if you are able to demonstrate a proven track record in a technical role.  Whilst technical qualifications are important, it is just as important that you have the right interpersonal skills and can-do attitude, enjoy a challenge and want to succeed in your career.

We know you won’t have too much experience but don’t worry, we will provide lots of on-the-job training.

You must be able to write clear and concise technical English as you will be required to liaise with the sales team, customers, suppliers and project managers and it must always be clear and professional.

The ideal candidate will also be able to communicate ideas both with potential customers and colleagues by means of technical drawings, from simple hand-drawn sketches to drawings using software.  AutoCAD experience would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given so you can at least interrogate and print off factory layouts and equipment drawings.

You must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

If you think this role is for you then please send your CV (or video CV) and a covering email to [email protected].  If we are interested in meeting you, we will be in touch within a couple of days.
